School Life
Our school is much more than what happens inside the classroom. Our school environment is open and welcoming, with activities during and after school.
School with a musical profile
Music is an important part of the school’s daily life and we are a center with a musical profile since 2011. We offer music classes for all ages both in and out of school hours. It doesn’t matter if the students are beginners or more experienced, the important thing is to have fun and find a community through music.
Children in kindergarten have music two days a week with the music teacher. In middle school and up, all students have the opportunity to take extra music lessons during school hours, playing band, instruments and singing. High school students can participate in the school choir.
After school we offer music classes specializing in various instruments, singing and even playing in a band. Throughout the year, students give concerts and participate in various performances.
Through music, children develop language, motor skills, self-esteem and a sense of rhythm from an early age, as well as the joy of singing, dancing and playing together.

School year and extended school day
Before and after the regular school day, we offer extended school hours during which the Infant and Primary students can participate in extracurricular activities.

Extracurricular activities
When the school day is over, a variety of extracurricular activities are offered such as singing, band and other musical activities, soccer, dance, gymnastics and art. The activities offered vary from year to year. Younger students are picked up from their classrooms to go to their chosen activity.

School transportation
The school offers school transportation to some areas of Madrid. It is possible to use school transportation on a regular or occasional basis.

School canteen
The school canteen serves lunch at the school. The food is prepared in our kitchen and is a mixture of Scandinavian and Spanish food. Every day there is a salad bar with fresh salad, fruit and vegetables. The school also serves breakfast and fika (Swedish snacks), which students can buy.
You are welcome to bring your own food, but it is not possible to heat or refrigerate it.

School community
We value a strong school community among students, staff and families that is characterized by closeness and opportunity for influence.
Parents can participate and influence in a variety of ways, partly through school ownership and managed as a parent association, partly through parent representatives who are appointed in each class. For students, there is the student council where representatives from each class meet with school management and can raise issues they feel are important in the school.
The school has a group of parent volunteers who work to actively strengthen the school community through various activities outside of school hours and to help new families to be welcomed into the school.

Good fellowship, the orden of the day
Student welfare has always been very present in our school and we are committed to fostering a positive climate and good camaraderie among students.
We are proud to be the first school in Spain to introduce the KiVa program, an anti-bullying program developed at the University of Turku in Finland.
The KiVa program allows students to work during a scheduled time on the values of good fellowship as a preventive measure. KiVa also gives us the tools to actively intervene in cases of suspected bullying.
Primary school students participate in the My Happy Mind educational program, in which they learn about how the brain works, how we can prevent problems and live healthier lives. Sports and physical education are important parts of the curriculum for all students.

School health
We actively promote good mental and physical health.
The school has a health team consisting of the director, the guidance counselor and the special needs teacher (International section), to whom everyone can turn to for support on various issues when needed.
You can contact the health team by email.

Excursions and school trips
All students go on field trips and study visits at various times throughout the year. They usually visit museums, theaters and historical sites or engage in nature activities.
Older students can take part in short residential school trips to visit places in Spain and abroad. These excursions and trips are enriching experiences that help strengthen the school’s fellowship and community spirit.

Our traditions
We celebrate various Scandinavian traditions throughout the year, such as Walpurgis, the national holidays, the summer solstice and St. Lucia. We also hold a Christmas bazaar every year before Christmas. These activities are very much appreciated by both families and people outside the school.
