The Scandinavian section of the school follows the Swedish curriculum and teaches all instruction in Swedish.

Early years

We accept children from 18 months to 4 or 5 years old (Förskoleklass (3rd of 2nd cycle of kindergarten) is offered from 5 or 6 years old). The groups are small and are integrated by age.

The foundations for lifelong learning are laid in kindergarten. Here we give the children a secure and solid base on which to build.

In our daily activities we encourage free play, creativity and the joy of learning. As play is an important part of children’s development, we consciously use play in all our activities.

Primary and Secondary Education

Primary education is offered from Förskoleklass (3rd year of kindergarten) to Åk 9 (3rd year of secondary school) with a flexible start at the age of 6 or 7. Therefore, students start the Förskoleklass class (3rd year of the 2nd cycle of kindergarten) when they are 5 or 6 years old.

Teaching is in Swedish and follows the Swedish curriculum. The classes are small and age-integrated, which offers great advantages due to the high teacher density and individualized teaching. This allows students to work at their own pace and according to their level of knowledge.

High School

In high school we offer the Natural Science, Social Science and Economics programs. All three programs are university preparatory in Sweden and Spain as well as in other countries.

Our students either live here with their families or are visiting students from high schools in Sweden and study with us for a semester or an entire school year.

Most groups are small, which allows for a close relationship between staff and students. This allows them to receive the attention and support they need to succeed in their studies and prepare for whatever they want to study once they graduate.

Spanish families for Swedish students

Would you like to get to know Sweden better?

Our school is growing and we have more Swedish students coming for the school year 2024/2025. We are looking for host families for them, maybe you are interested?

We are looking for families who live close to the school or with good communication with the school located in La Moraleja. It is good if the student can live for example in Alcobendas, San Sebastian de los Reyes, Valdebebas, Las tablas or Montecarmelo.

We have fixed daily routines, such as morning assembly with songs and stories, snack time, lunch and nap time for the younger children. During the week we have music with the music teacher and do other creative activities such as baking and arts and crafts. We also do sports and movement on a regular basis. We work on different topics so that the children acquire knowledge and skills in areas such as language, mathematics, nature and the environment, at their level. Every day, whatever the weather, we go outside to play in our beautiful playground.

We believe in the children’s own abilities and give them the space and support they need to become independent individuals in a safe, playful and stimulating environment. We teach children to care for one another, while encouraging their own interests. Since all of our students are or will be at least bilingual, we work with language in all activities.

We want to inspire our students to be creative and enjoy learning. We encourage students to think critically and form their own opinions, to take their own initiatives and to have a say in their school. We emphasize respect for the opinions of others and empathy for others.

Camaraderie and group cohesion are important for well-being and learning at the school, both within the class and between different age groups.

All students study Spanish according to their level of proficiency, whether as a first or second language.

Students with Spanish as their mother tongue study Spanish Language and Literature and Spanish Culture according to the Spanish curriculum. After obtaining the Swedish Bachillerato degree in combination with a pass in these subjects, students receive the Spanish Secondary School Diploma after the first year of Bachillerato (three years) and the Bachillerato Degree after the third year of Bachillerato.

Once the high school diploma is obtained, students can apply to Swedish and Spanish universities, as well as universities in other countries.

Guest student programme

We offer places for students from Swedish high schools. This gives them the opportunity to improve their Spanish language skills and get to know the Spanish culture without missing a high school course.

Visiting students can spend a semester or a year at our school, although some choose to stay longer.  Students who complete their second year of high school with us then return to Sweden to finish their third and final graduating year of high school.

Those students who choose to study their third year here graduate and celebrate their graduation here.

Receive Spanish classes according to their level and in addition to their regular courses, they have the opportunity to take a course in the History of Spanish culture and ideas.

During their stay here, students live with Spanish families and so they have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the language even more and further develop their skills.
